Problem for North, to bid or not to bid - the hand is likely it get passed if he doesn't bid.
Does stayman apply over 2 NT overcall?
Sometimes you have to stay preempted. With only 14 and a dodgy stopper I don't think the good diamond suit is enough to stretch to bid. A 2NT overcall is already a wide range so stretching into it is going to make life very difficult for your side.
