South has nice spades but the rest is awful. An alternative to 2S is x for take out if u must bid. What is North's 2NTin this sequence -is it natural or for the minors? [North didn't care, just thought that 2S wasn't going to get many MPs!]
Against that there is some pressure on south to bid in this spot as some other players would open this hand 1S and north may have an easy raise to 2S. So when you play a style where you open 1NT with these hands you sometimes need to take a risk later in the auction just to get back to the field.

ReplyDeleteA further note emphasising my previous point. I like west's 2H less than I like south's 2S.
