West could double rather than bid 2C. I make that comment somewhat reluctantly as over the years doubling 1NT in these auctions is something that seems to have worked out badly for but well when my opponents do it. Maybe I have selective memory.
However with the balance of strength and a reasonably balanced hand I think you should always consider a double. Here if you do that you might end up defending 2C - perhaps doubled.
I think 2C should look like six clubs and a few points. A fairly normal agreement is that after a 1NT overcall a new suit is natural and not forcing.
